Lazar Lyutakov appropriates ‘cultural readymades’ from a variety of different cultural contexts for his sculptural work. His
best known and possibly most provocative work is his presentation of his grandmothers (Bulgarian) Pepper-Cooker as a
sculptural readymade, isolated on a white pedestal the ad hock object looks more like an historical artifact rather than a
modern kitchen appliance. This work is the most indicative because of its subtleties as a readymade by appropriating the
cultural context of an object without destroying its history.
