In March 2008 the gallery was established by Karol Winiarzcyk as WINIARZYK. After gaining experience in international galleries and institutions he worked as an art advisor specialised in modern european drawings and contemporary art for private collectors. Parallel to it he started to organise exhibitions and art projects in Paris, Rome, Florence and Vienna.

The main focus of the gallery is to show and promote young cutting edge artists positioning them in an international context.

The close communication and long time relationship between the gallery and the artists emerge in intensive solo shows. Furthermore the program is accompanied by group shows in cooperation with international curators, emphasizing the wide range of medium and topic.

Interested in bigger scaled projects, cooperations with local and international institutions are initiated to broaden the program and give space to different kinds of experimentation and exchange. In May 2009 WINIARZYK started an ambitious exhibition – project with three Viennese galleries and the curator Adam Budak, called “Breathless”. Situated in a 2000 sqm closed down market hall it reflected the aim to work with the various potentials of a cultural metropolis addressing a wider audience and reuniting a demanding artistic concept within a fascinating architectural frame.

Until March 2010 the gallery was located in the Praterstrasse. In June 2010 the gallery moved to a bigger space in the first district and renamed tha gallery Galerie Karol Winiarczyk. Located in the well known gallery – neighbourhood of the Eschenbachgasse, within short walking distance from the Secession, Museumsquartier (Sammlung Leopold, Kunsthalle Wien, MUMOK,etc), Kunsthalle project space, Albertina and Künstlerhaus.
